Rizal, officially known as the Province of Rizal (Filipino: Lalawigan ng Rizal) is a province in the Philippines located in the CALABARZON region, just 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) east of Manila. The province is named after José Rizal, one of the main national heroes of the Philippines. Rizal is bordered by Metro Manila to the west, Bulacan to the north, Quezon to the east and Laguna to the southeast. The province also lies on the northern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. Rizal is a mountainous province perched on the western slopes of the southern portion of the Sierra Madre mountain range.

Named after the national hero Jose Rizal, the province's literature are designed by its own unique culture molded by its writers.

Ligaya G. Tiamson-Rubin (popularly known as 'Mam Gaying'), is a multiple Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature recipient, and currently a professor of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Today, she is teaching Filipino 25, Mga Ideya at Estilo (Ideas and Styles) under the Department of Filipino and Philippine Literature [1] at the College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines Diliman in Diliman, Quezon City.

Jose Antonio Vargas
Jose Antonio Vargas (born February 3, 1981) is a journalist, filmmaker, and immigration rights activist. Born in the Philippines and raised in the United States from the age of twelve, he was part of The Washington Post team that won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting in 2008 for coverage of the Virginia Tech shooting online and in print.[2] Vargas also has worked for the San Francisco Chronicle, the Philadelphia Daily News, and The Huffington Post.[3] He wrote, produced, and directed the autobiographical 2013 film, Documented, which CNN Films broadcast in June 2014.
